Williams has signed a one-year deal with the promoted club following a trial period, after being released by Glory.

Born and raised in Perth, Williams is eligible to represent Australia, Wales and India through his parents. His mother is from Mumbai while his father was born in Kent.

Williams' older brother Rhys represented Wales at Under-21 level before playing for the Socceroos.

The full-back told FourFourTwo putting his hand up to play for the Blue Tigers, ranked 97th in the world, was one of the reasons he has made the move to India.

"Having family in Mumbai and knowing my Papa had once played football in India in the 1950s, it made the decision to move much easier," he said.

"Both my Nana and Papa were born in Mumbai, as well as my mother. My Papa played for the West Indian Football Association back in the 1950s and I wish to follow in his footsteps within India football.

"With my mum being born in Mumbai, it makes me eligible to play for the national team. I am hoping to get the call to play in the near future to represent India at national team level. I was given the opportunity to head over on trial and I took up the offer straight away.

"I felt that I could be an influential player at Neroca."

Williams came through WA club ECU Joondalup before heading to England to join Burnley as a teenager. He returned to Australia and spent two seasons with Glory in the A-League.

The 23-year old will head to India next month to begin pre-season training with the newly promoted club.

"It’s a great club and I can’t wait to get started," he said.

"All the staff and players have made me feel so welcome around the office and on the training ground.

"We’ve got a great mix of players with some experienced players as well as young players that are willing to learn.

"We will be looking to finish as high as possible this season and hopefully challenge for some silverware."

Imphal-based Neroca will play in the I-League this season after winning the I-League 2nd division title.

India has been a popular destination for Australian players in recent years as the sport grows there and former Glory and Roar man Diogo Ferreira will play for Mohan Bagan in the 2017-18 campaign.

"With the Indian Super League getting worldwide coverage, its attracting some big-name players so I think in the next couple of years it’s going to continue growing and continue to attract big names to the leagues," Williams said.
