The Arsenal and England midfield has played 60 games during the past 10 months, including yesterday's 2-2 draw for his country against Switzerland at Wembley.

That is more than double what Wilshere had originally been told he would play by Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.

He said: "It has been a crazy year. At the start of the year, there was talk of me going back on loan to Bolton.

"The manager at Arsenal said he wanted me to play 20-25 games and I've played 60 games this year.

"It has been a crazy year but I've enjoyed every moment of it.

"Hopefully I can get a bit more taste of international football next year and carry on performing for my club."

Wilshere acknowledges it is advisable for him to rest after initially declaring he wanted to play for England Under-21s in the European Championships in Denmark.

He said: "I have to get my feet up. I've got four weeks off.

"I have to get ready for next season and there is a big tournament coming up (Euro 2012) and I have to be ready for that."

Wilshere also feels he will be able to cope with the extra expectations at Arsenal after creating a favourable impression this season, and knows the need to win trophies.

He said: "I play at a big club. The expectation level is big. From when I was 16, the expectation has always been high.

"We are a top four club and we want to deliver trophies and win every game."
