Western Sydney Wanderers boss Tony Popovic is confident results are around the corner for his side despite their six-game winless streak.
Wanderers are away to Central Coast on Saturday, fresh from what Popovic described as their best display of the season in the 1-1 draw with Brisbane Roar last round.
The Wanderers boss was bullish about the side’s improvement and insisted a lack of confidence isn’t an issue despite their winless run.
“I can only judge on what I see,” Popovic said.
“Certainly that’s not something we see as an issue or something we need to worry about.”
Speaking about last week’s draw with Roar, Popovic added: “Overall for the 90 minutes it was probably as good as we’ve done.
“We’ve certainly played large periods as good as that but haven’t put together a complete 90-minute performance in attack and defence and that’s as close as we’ve come.
“The only thing missing is the result and the three points.”
Wanderers’ progress this term has been typically slow following another large off-season turnover, while marquee Nicolas Martinez arrived late in pre-season.
“It’s constantly building. It’s a work in progress,” Popovic said.
“Anyone who saw that game against Brisbane will tell you Western Sydney didn’t look like a new team. That’s encouraging for us.
“We’ve got to get the results with the performance.”
