A few hours after Manchester United were beaten by Portsmouth, Kayode Odejayi's header proved the difference at Oakwell as Barnsley followed up their fifth-round victory over Liverpool by reaching the semi-finals.

"I'm just over the moon," said Davey. "I can't believe it. We went to Anfield and we put on a show and we came away with the result and everyone thought we couldn't do it again.

"I believed from the start that we could, especially because we've only lost here twice this season. The players were fantastic. Kayode's had a lot of stick this year but he's come out and scored the winner and I'm really pleased for him.

"We had a gameplan and it's obviously worked. I'm speechless at the moment, I can't believe we've really done it. We're in the semi-finals."

With the semi-finals reverting to Wembley this season, Davey will be making a first trip to the famous stadium.

"I've never been to Wembley myself, there's a lot of players in that dressing room who've never gone to Wembley and I just can't wait now," added Davey.

"All the credit's got to go to the players. They were absolutely magnificent. to take on a team like Chelsea with the millions they've got - unbelievable."

Barnsley captain Brian Howard felt Barnsley fully deserved their unexpected victory.

"It's unbelievable," he told BBC One. "It hasn't sunk in. We've knocked out Liverpool at Anfield and now the cup holders, who've got one of the best squads in the world and they've come here and we've turned them over. It's a fantastic day.

"The effort everyone put in, we deserve everything we get. We've worked extremely hard and we were playing against top quality, we took our chance and now we're going to Wembley and we can't wait."

Goal hero Odejayi was keen to pay tribute to his team-mates after his towering far-post header settled the match.

"It wasn't just down to me, it was the whole squad," the big striker said. "Everyone deserved it today for the effort they put in. It's the glory of the FA Cup. It's a magical tournament and that's just proved again tonight."

The last time Barnsley reached the FA Cup semi-finals in 1912 they went on to win the competition, and Odejayi believes a repeat is not out of the question.

"We know it could be our year with the teams we've turned over so far. You never know," he said.

Avram Grant admitted it was one of his worst days since he became Chelsea manager in September.

"We started the game well then we conceded the goal and we couldn't score," he told Sky Sports News. "We didn't play well, especially in the first half, and all the credit to Barnsley.

"I am very, very disappointed and sad about this. It's an important competition. We had a chance to do something in this competition and we didn't do it so now we need to look forward for the league and Champions League."

Grant put aside his disappointment to pay tribute to Chelsea's Coca-Cola Championship conquerors.

"They won against Liverpool, they won against us. All credit to them and I congratulate them," he added.
