Morgan was the subject of abuse as fans remained at the stadium to shows banners of 'Scouse Mafia Out' in a direct show of anger towards the Liverpool-born owner.

The Wolves fans are upset with the club's position as they appear in grave danger of dropping out of the Premier League and they believe the decision to sack Mick McCarthy before taking 11 days to hire his assistant Terry Connor made the club a laughing stock.

Morgan, though, felt it necessary to speak to the fans to explain why there had been a delay and laid the blame on Steve Bruce who he claimed left the club in the lurch.

"He accepted the job, he accepted it. He took four days from the process," Morgan told fans outside the stadium.

"Do you know what? I wasn't on the pitch today otherwise we would have scored."

"We could have scored four goals, but it's confidence."

Wolves fans vented their anger at Morgan claiming he had not invested enough into the playing staff, though the owner insisted that since he took over the club, he had spent huge amounts.

"We are the fifth-biggest spenders," Morgan insisted.

"I will face you anytime. The fans were great today."
