TOTTENHAM boss Harry Redknapp admits he has concerns over Jonathan Woodgate's recovery from a groin problem after revealing club physios are still struggling to get to the bottom of the injury.
Woodgate, the 29-year-old centre-back, underwent surgery in the summer and made a comeback in October but his last appearance was in the demolition of Wigan at White Hart Lane nearly two months ago.
"Hopefully when he comes back he will be able to train properly but he is not able to train at the moment," Redknapp said.
"It is just a case of trying to get to the bottom of what is causing the problem. He has had a few operations on that area and we are finding it difficult to solve the problem."
Redknapp, worried at the time it has taken for Woodgate to return to training, added: "It is (concerning), for him as well.
"He wants to play football as much as anybody, more than anybody. But hopefully in a couple of weeks it could go away in the same way as it came.
"They feel that the strengthening work that they are doing now is starting to show some signs of improvement, we just hope that that's going to do the trick for him now."
Woodgate is a bubbly character in the Spurs dressing room but Redknapp admits the defender has felt low during the injury.
"Yes, obviously," he said.
"But I think he feels he's working hard now and he's hoping that he's on the way back."
Redknapp is hoping Woodgate will be back to help the club push for a Champions League place this season. They could have gone seven points clear of rivals Liverpool this weekend but their clash at Anfield was cancelled due to the weather conditions affecting safety around the stadium.
Redknapp believes Liverpool are still favourites a top-four spot because they have Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres.
"I just think Gerrard is incredible and Torres is one of the best centre forwards in the world, for sure," he said. "Not too many clubs have got two world-class players.
"I'm talking about the very, very best players. It's difficult for me to talk about us because they are my players and it's hard for me to pick them out. I think Modric..."
