Reports overnight claimed Australia were set to cancel their lobbying trip to the African Cup of Nations and the CAF congress meeting in the wake of the Togo attack.

The final nail in the coffin reportedly came after details of an exclusive sponsorship deal between CAF and 2022 World Cup bid rivals Qatar which excluded Australia from promoting their bid at the CAF congress meeting.

No African countries are bidding for either the 2018 or 2022 World Cups and their votes could prove vital when the decision is being made for either World Cup.

But Qatar signed a deal with CAF for the January 29 congress meeting preventing any other bid team from promoting their bid to African nations.

However overnight claims that the Australia trip to Luanda was scrapped were firmly refuted today.

Buckley today said Australia's World Cup bid team had reaffirmed its commitment to attend the Confederation of African Football Congress and the Africa Cup Of Nations tournament in Angola.

"The Africa Cup Of Nations is one of the most prestigious tournaments in world football and we always planned to have a strong presence at the event," Buckley said.

"It is a fantastic tournament and a great opportunity for us to talk about Australia's bid credentials and support football in Africa."
