SYDNEY FC coach John Kosmina has endorsed FFA chairman Frank Lowy's dream of Australia hosting the 2018 World Cup and his stated hope of a final finish.

“Why not?” he said. “If you don't have ambitions and you don't set plans in place to bring them ambitions to a reality, you're going to struggle.
“Why can't we say we'll be good enough. I think our current crop of Olyroos have a lot of potential. I think a number of those boys will be in the next World Cup squad.
"And the majority will form the backbone of the 2014 qualifying campaign. If we can produce more youngsters like the current Olyroo squad then there are no reasons why we can't say things like that.
“It's not an outlandish statement at all.”
As for the national development plan announced today, Kosmina was hoping he will be around to utilise its benefits at his new club.
“A youth team at Sydney FC [for the planned national youth league] means you can plan," he added.
"Hopefully I can be around long enough to get some kids into the youth side next year. I guess it's all a part of the ongoing professionalism of the game.
“We're as good as anyone in the world, we just don't have the system to get them up to scratch early enough. But that will come.”
