Ricki Herbert’s team conceded four goals against Melbourne Victory last week but Pantelis isn’t expecting a confidence-drained side to step off the plane in South Australia.

The 26-year-old told au.fourfourtwo.com today: “They had a disappointing result last time and I’m sure they will want to bounce back as quickly as they can.

“One result doesn’t suddenly make you a bad team.

“I think Wellington are a very good side and have strengthened this year, just as all the teams in the A-League have strengthened.

“You have to focus on your own strengths but with the likes of Shane Smeltz and Adam Kwasnik in their side, you know they have the players there who can cause you problems.

“We have to make sure that we do everything we can to cut out the supply to them.”

Adelaide go into the match with a win and a draw from their two matches, having resisted considerable Queensland Roar pressure at Suncorp Stadium last week to emerge with a 1-1 draw.

Pantelis said: “I think we were pretty happy with the point and if we can take the three points from Wellington then that’s seven (points) out of nine. I think we’d have been happy with that when we looked at the fixtures before the start of the season.”

As for Pantelis himself, he is enjoying his new role and responsibilities as vice-captain of the club.

He said: “It’s something I hadn’t been expecting and really didn’t think would come my way. But it’s a great honour and if I’m able to help the captain (Travis Dodd) and pass on any advice to the younger guys then I will.

“But you also have to make sure your own game is right and that you continue to learn.”
