Australia sits three points behind Japan and Saudi Arabia in the two automatic qualification spots in their group with only three games to play.

The situation means anything less than a win could be terminal for Australia’s hopes of qualifying for Russia automatically.

Bristol City defender Wright, who has 14 Socceroos caps to his name, insisted Australia weren’t feeling the pressure in camp.

“Every time we come into camp the mood is upbeat,” Wright said.

“Sometimes you go months without seeing each other and get in and it’s like one big family again.

“The mood is relaxed but when we need to work, we’re ready to do it.

“It’s no different to any other camp, we know this game is very important.

“We take each game as it comes. We’re looking at the big picture but they’re the next ones we need to overcome.”

Wright said the Socceroos would do their homework on the Green Falcons but insisted the big focus was their own style and performance.

“We train hard, come in and do our homework on them,” he said.

“We focus on ourselves and what we’re about.

“This game against Saudi Arabia is another opportunity for us to go out on that pitch and progress as a team and show we’re better than last game.

“We want to win the game, that’s a no-brainer.”
