FFA sources have told au.fourfourtwo.com they won't confirm or deny that Michael Ballack will join Western Sydney Wanderers as any potential deal hangs in the balance.
FFA own new A-League club Western Sydney Wanderers and the club have not signed a marquee player. They have also stated it's not part of their recruitment policy.
However there have been contract talks between Ballack's agents in this country and the FFA regarding bringing the German superstar in for at least one season.
“FFA and A-League clubs talk to lots of player agents about lots of different players," said an FFA spokesperson tonight.
“We don’t provide a running commentary on these talks and we won’t offer confirmations or denials every time a rumour surfaces."
It's been known that negotiations for a Ballack deal were on-going this week.
But sources inside the negotiations fear the speculative reporting may scare off the German superstar who has offers from around the world currently on the table.
The “hot air” as one insider put the story, may have jeapordised the potential move.
For Wanderers fans they will no doubt hope the deal still goes through as it would have been a stunning signing given the fact cross town rivals Sydney FC have already signed Alessandro Del Piero.
And with the Jets set to sign Emile Heskey, Wanderers may've added their own star to round out a stunning few weeks in the A-League transfer market.
It remains to be seen whether Ballack will play in the A-League this season with Wanderers or another club.
