Barcelona playmaker Xavi has dismissed speculation he is considering retiring from international football, insisting he wants to be around to try and help Spain defend both their European Championship and World Cup titles.
Xavi has been struggling with an Achilles tendon problem this season and there had been reports the 30-year-old could call time on his Spain career, possibly when he reaches 100 caps.
Xavi is just three games away from that milestone, and could reach it in the next few months with a friendly against Portugal later this month being followed by Euro 2012 qualifying match against Czech Republic and Lithuania in March.
However, the Euro 2008 player of the tournament insists there is no truth in those rumours, saying in Marca: "I want to deny that I want to leave the Spanish national team.
"I want to go to the European Championship finals (2012) and to the World Cup in Brazil (2014).
"I don't know where all this has come from. I want to play against Portugal and in every game, even friendlies.
"I'm excited about playing for the national team. I get the feeling that my commitment is continually being doubted when I've never given any reason for that.
"Every time I have a press conference I have to give explanations."
