Kim Jin-il shocked the hosts, who rang the changes from Tuesday's 4-2 Asian Champions League win over Sriwijaya, by heading Gangwon ahead after just 10 minutes.

Seoul hit back 10 minutes before the break as Kim Sung-yung beat a Gangwon defender to a Koh Myung-jin free-kick and headed the ball over the goalkeeper and into the net.

Five minutes later, Gangwon's Kim Yong-hu smacked a spot kick against the inside of the FC Seoul post after defender Kevin Hatchi handled on the line. The Frenchman was subsequently sent off.

With three minutes remaining, Gangwon's Yoon won the game for the league's new boys.

Fresh after thrashing Japanese champions Kashima Antlers 4-1 on Wednesday in the opening round of the Asian Champions League, Suwon Samsung Bluewings found Daejeon Citizen a much harder nut to crack as they were held to a goalless draw.

Substitute Seo Dong-hyun had perhaps the best chance of an unremarkable game when he found some space inside the area midway through the second half but the striker shot weakly wide.

"It is a point away from home and not a bad result for us," said Suwon boss Cha Bum-keun after the game. "But we have played just two games in the league and have a long way to go."

In the day's other match, Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma recorded their second draw of the season as they were held 0-0 by Ulsan Hyundai Horang-i.

Ulsan lost their opening match of the 2009 Asian Champions League 3-1 at home to Nagoya Grampus last week and after the match finished headed to the airport for the long trip to Australia to take on Newcastle Jets.

"We have four games in the space of 10 days," said coach Kim Ho-gon after the match. "We may have to rest some of our players in the coming games. We may have lost the first game but we will give our all in the matches to come.

"The accuracy of our passing is letting us down at the moment."
