EXCLUSIVE: Young Socceroo star Matt Leckie says the speed of the Young Socceroos and their belief will stand them in good stead ahead of Sunday night's historic AFC U/19 final.
The Young Socceroos have cut a swathe through the tournament to remain unbeaten ahead of the final against DPR Korea.
The first goal of qualifying for next year's U/20 World Cup in Colombia has been achieved by reaching the tournament's semi-finals.
Now, the young green and gold stars are poised for an historic first Aussie men's continental trophy.
If so, it would follow on from the Matildas who became the first ever Australian team to win a FIFA and AFC tournament.
"We've been mostly on top in every game so far so there is a lot of belief in this team," Leckie told au.fourfourtwo.com.
"Everyone is quick here but we are stronger, it is good to be able to compare ourselves with the best players and teams in Asia and now we are looking forward to comparing ourselves with the world's best in Colombia."
He added: "Everyone will be watching and anything can happen, particularly as we are developing so well as a team."
Leckie's Reds teammate, keeper Mark Birighitti, said this AFC tournament was the highlight of his football career.
A big wrap considering the youngster has also played in an AFC Champions League final for Adelaide United in 2008.
"To win the game against UAE [in the quarter-finals] and qualify for the World Cup was such a great feeling," said Birighitti.
"I was briefly involved with previous Young Socceroo squad and I think this team has more potential, more depth.
"The final is going to be another great game for us. We have a great deal of experience in the team and we have been thorough a lot together over the past couple of years so our aim is to try and go to the World Cup in Columbia as champions of AFC."
Young Socceroo Dylan McGowan, from Scottish club Hearts, added that the experience in China has enriched him as a footballer.
"This is a big achievement, but it will be even bigger to go to the World Cup as AFC Champions.
"In Scotland the games are more physical and its very quick while in Asia it's a lot more technical with more skillful players.
"Playing in these type of tournaments helps you as a player as you learn to adapt against different systems and styles of teams."
* Fox Sports will broadcast live and exclusive the final between the Young Socceroos and DPR Korea this Sunday (17 October 2010) from the Zibo Sports Center in Zibo, China (Kick-off 7:30pm local, 10:30pm AEDT).
