Brazilian legend Zico made a successful start to his Bunyodkor reign on Sunday as his new charges reclaimed top spot in the Uzbek League with a 2-0 win against Bukhara.
Zico replaced Mirdjalol Kasimov, who took over the reins of Uzbekistan national team, earlier this week and watched Chilean striker Jose Luis Villanueva open the scoring for Bunyodkor in first-half stoppage time.
Uzbekistan midfielder Timur Kapadze sealed the win with two minutes remaining as Bunyodkor moved a point clear of defending champions Pakhtakor, who were held to a 1-1 draw at sixth placed Andijan.
Zaynitdin Tadjiyev's 31st-minute opener looked to have maintained Pakhtakor's advantage at the top of the table until Tengiz Kobiashvili struck in the second minute of added time to snatch a point for the home side.
Also on Sunday, fourth-placed Mash'al shared a 1-1 draw with Dynamo.
Ilhom Shamuradov opened the scoring for Mash'al after 13 minutes but Omar Berdiev equalised with 13 minutes remaining to earn the sixth-placed visitors a point.
