Zlatan Ibrahimovic immortalised by statue in Malmo

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been immortalised in his hometown of Malmo with a monument standing at 8.9 feet tall paying tribute to the Swede's iconic celebration.

Zlatan unveiled the statue in front of many supporters at Malmo's stadium where the LA Galaxy player started his career.

The statue was commissioned by Swedish football authorities to celebrate their record goalscorer and took Swedish artist Peter Linde four years to construct.

Always known for his charismatic and arrogant attitude Zlatan said at the event: "When you come to New York you have the Statue of Liberty when you come to Sweden you have the Statue of Zlatan."

The half-naked bronze statue commemorates the man who has made over 500 club appearances and scored over 400 goals for the likes of Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United.

Ibrahimovic has been a cornerstone of Swedish football making 116 appearances and scoring 62 goals before retiring from international football in 2016.
