BRISBANE Roar speedster Michael Zullo says the Queenslanders must win at least three of their final four games to have any hope of making the finals.
Zullo says the squad are gunning to break Townsville hearts when they travel north to face state rivals North Queensland Fury at Dairy Farmers Stadium on Saturday night.
Roar's final Queensland derby is shaping as a crucial match for both clubs, but a primed Roar squad have set their sights on nothing less than a vital away victory.
"I think it's coming to the stage of the season where they are all must win games," Zullo said.
"Any other result apart from a victory is not good enough."
With games against Sydney (home), Perth and Adelaide (away) following the Fury trip, the squad are well aware their finals aspirations rest on a valuable victory in Townsville.
"We need to win at least three of the next four, if not all of them, and it has to start this weekend," Zullo said.
"We need to start getting those points now, or else in a couple of weeks, the six will be out of touch and that's it, our season will be over."
A finals spot may be motivation enough for Roar, but final bragging rights between the sunshine state clubs will ensure another flavour is added to the already spicy clash.
A first time visitor against Fury, Zullo was adamant the rivalry between the clubs would spur Roar onto victory.
"None of us want to lose to another Queensland team," he said. "I think everyone is taking it very seriously, and like I said, we need three points."
Beginning his Roar career as a left winger, Zullo has found himself pushed further back downfield as coach Ange Postecoglou utilises the 21 year-old's bursts down the left flank.
Despite the unfamiliarity of the left-back position, Zullo said he was happy to learn new skills and experiment with different roles on the park.
"It would be good for my career to be able to be competent in two or three positions," he added.
"It's still a learning process, and there is still a lot to work on as a left back, but I'm just happy to be playing."
