Sydney FC left-back Michael Zullo isn't short of confidence. In fact, he's pretty much rubbing the Big V's face in it.
Sydney face Melbourne Victory in the Biggest Blue of the season, a semi-final clash at Allianz Stadium to decide which of Australia's giants will be showpiece contenders this year.
The Sky Blues are clear favourites, seven wins in their last seven encounters with Kevin Muscat's side making captain Alex Brosque extremely confident of getting the result.
"We know how tough games against Melbourne have been in the past so to have seven wins in a row over them, no doubt it's playing on their mind. It's on our mind," the 34-year-old told a-league.com.au.
"They'll maintain the semi-final is a different game of football. But in front of our home crowd and with our home record we're very confident."
Melbourne are coming off a hard-fought but convincing win against Adelaide United at AAMI Park, with Muscat's side in good form and often capable of earning surprising results in final series'.
Whoever progresses will face either Melbourne City or Newcastle Jets for the toilet seat, who's semi-final is on Friday. But Sydney left-back Michael Zullo is certain that Sydney are most deserving.
"Regardless of what they've done since December, we win every time we play against Melbourne Victory," Zullo said.
"That's something we're taking into the weekend and we're using that confidence to put in a good performance.
"We're so motivated to cap off what's been a fantastic year."
