The president of the German Football Association Dr Theo Zwanziger will not step down from his position after a testing few months.
Dr Zwanziger was yesterday given the backing by the DFB (the German Football Association) at a board meeting in Frankfurt and vowed to carry on despite the numerous issues and controversies that have hit the German game recently.
"I am very happy and am particularly delighted with the confirmation of support from the board and the presidency," he said.
"There were lots of questions to answer, and one of them was of course how strong the president is and how big the faith is in him.
"Of course I have thought a lot in these weeks whether I am still enjoying this position and whether I should carry on and I am therefore extremely happy with this show of support."
Zwanziger still has a lot on his plate with a match-fixing scandal, the failure to extend the contract of Germany coach Joachim Low and the more recent sexual harassment case against former refereeing advisor Manfred Amerell tainting the image of the DFB.
But after expressing his delight at being trusted as the DFB president, he also admitted that he would not stick around if the situation deteriorated.
"I am not stuck to my seat," he added. "Nobody is going to carry me out on my chair with me unable to hold my head straight."
