An Australian citizen, who arrived in Russia for the World Cup, was detained by local police after launching a quadcopter at Red Square in Moscow and his drone was confiscated, a source at a law enforcement agency told Sputnik on Wednesday.
Operating drones at Red Square is prohibited by the Russian law enforcement agencies for security reasons.
βAn Australian citizen, born in 1987, was detained after launching a quadcopter at Red Square,β the source said.
The Australian was released after filling out a report and is subject to a 5,000 RUB (almost $80) fine.
