Perth Glory have added utility player Hayden Doyle to the squad roster on a one year deal.
At just 19, Doyle has already experienced football in Europe, serving as an apprentice at Stoke City for two years and further season in Greece with Niki Volou FC.
“Hayden brings some quality experience for a young man, creative footwork and a good understanding of the game,” coach Dave Mitchell said.
“He can play in a variety of roles and is a real competitor who will no doubt be pushing hard to get as many games as possible.
“Hayden has a real enthusiasm and hunger to be playing in the A-League and has shown in games and at training that he can match that enthusiasm with ability.
"It’s a combination that I’m confident will make for a successful career at this level,” Mitchell said.
Born in South Australia, Doyle began playing football following a move to the South West WA town of Bunbury aged six.
While his family have since returned to Adelaide, he has always maintained his support of Glory and recalls many visits to Perth to see the team play.
“It is fantastic to have the opportunity to play for the club that you supported as a kid and I’m looking forward to being part of the squad which is focused on achieving big things this season,” Doyle said.
Doyle will fly out with his new team mates to East Java on Wednesday as Glory embark on a two match pre-season tour against Indonesian Super League sides Persik Kediri (Sunday 29 June) and Deltras Sidoarjo (Friday 4 July).
Perth Glory have 19 contracted players for the 2008/09 Hyundai A-League season and are continuing discussions with several players to finalise the squad.
