Former Russia striker Dmitri Bulykin said on Saturday that the hosts performed well in their World Cup quarter-final match against Croatia.
Russia lost 4-3 on penalties to Croatia in Sochi on Saturday and were eliminated from the tournament, after the match finished 2-2 following extra time.
"Thanks a lot to [head coach] Stanislav Cherchesov, who was leading the team brilliantly. This World Cup is wonderful, and our team performed really well. Thanks so much to the Russian Football Union and to everyone who took part in the organization of the tournament," Bulykin told Sputnik by the phone.
The 38-year-old was capped by Russia on 15 occasions and scored seven goals.
