Peru head coach Ricardo Gareca said on Wednesday that he would announce his starting line-up for the World Cup Group C match against France on Thursday, refusing to reveal whether Peru captain Guerrero and striker Jefferson Farfan would start the game.
"I will announce the starting line-up tomorrow. [Strikers] Farfan and Guerrero are great players, but it's too early to say whether the two of them will be in the starting line-up or not. And I would not focus only on them, they are making progress, but the whole team is doing so as well," Gareca said.
Peru's all-time top goalscorer Guerrero could have missed the World Cup after being banned by CAS for 14 months in May for failing a doping test. The player appealed to the Swiss Federal Supreme Court, which agreed to lift the ban completely, allowing the player to take part in the tournament.
Peru, who are currently bottom of Group C, lost 1-0 to Denmark in their first World Cup match in Saransk, with Guerrero coming on from the bench midway through the second half.
