Japan are in excellent shape and are ready to face Colombia in their first game of the World Cup, the team's captain Makoto Hasebe said on Monday.
"We are in excellent shape and I hope we will come as one [onto the pitch]. Tomorrow we will try to show our teamwork and we are confident we'll be able to do it. We have a new head coach, and we had to build up our team again, but I think we are well prepared for tomorrow's game," Hasebe told journalists.
The 34-year-old added that he believed their opponents Colombia were a well-organized team and a tough rival, so Tuesday's game will be very difficult.
Japan will kick off their World Cup campaign against Colombia at the 42,000-seater Mordovia Arena in Saransk on Tuesday before also taking on Senegal and Poland in their other two Group H matches.
