Belgium midfielder Adnan Januzaj said on Thursday that he scored in order to prove to his side's fans that they were wrong to criticize him.
Belgium beat England 1-0 in Kaliningrad on Thursday, with Januzaj scoring the only goal of the match in the 51st minute, that later earned him the man of the match title.
"England is a very strong opponent and to score against them is a great privilege. I wanted to show the fans that they criticized me for nothing. I am in the squad, I am happy. I worked a lot this year, I grew up as a player. And the most important thing - I began to progress, " Januzaj said.
He added he was very grateful for support and will try to keep up playing to the best of his ability.
Belgium qualified top of the group G with nine points and will now face Japan in Rostov-on-Don on July 2, while England on six points will take on Colombia in Moscow the next day.
