Senegal defender Kalidou Koulibaly said on Tuesday that his country were delighted to be the first African side to win a match at the 2018 World Cup.
“It’s always difficult to begin a tournament like the World Cup. It was a very important game and a very important win for us. Of course, it is great that we managed to record not only Senegal’s, but Africa’s first win at the tournament,” Koulibaly told reporters.
Senegal defeated Poland 2-1 in a match held at the Spartak Arena on Tuesday.
