KAZAN, June 29 (Sputnik) - France goalkeeper and captain Hugo Lloris said Friday that not only Argentina captain Lionel Messi could propel his side to the 2018 FIFA World Cup quarterfinals, but many of his teammates as well.
Group C winners France will take on Argentina in their round of 16 match, which will be played in Kazan on Saturday.
"I'm happy to face Argentina, they are a strong team with many stars and many loud fans in the stands. This will be a great match, an important challenge for the French team. We hope to win and continue our World Cup campaign... People speak very much about Lionel [Messi, Argentina striker and captain], and he deserves it. But Argentina doesn't come down to Messi, there are plenty of players who are able to achieve the goal of reaching the next round," Lloris told journalists.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup kicked off on June 14 and will continue until July 15, with the matches being played in 11 cities across Russia.
