MOSCOW, June 3 (Sputnik) - World Cup-bound Mexico beat Scotland 1-0 in a friendly match held at Mexico’s Estadio Azteca late on Saturday.
Midfielder Giovani dos Santos scored the only goal of the match in the 13th minute, thus securing victory for the hosts.
Russia will host its first-ever FIFA World Cup between June 14 and July 15 at 12 stadiums across 11 cities.
Mexico will play in Group, facing reigning champions Germany in Moscow on June 17, South Korea in Rostov-on-Don on June 23 and Sweden in Yekaterinburg on June 27. Scotland did not qualify for the tournament.
