MOSCOW, May 28 (Sputnik) - World Cup-bound Nigeria were held to a 1-1 draw by the Democratic Republic of Congo in an exhibition game as they continue their preparations for next month’s tournament in Russia.
The match which was played in the Nigerian city of Port Harcourt.
Nigeria defender William Troost-Ekong scored the opening goal in the 15th minute, before the visitors evened the score in the 78th minute when forward Ben Malango scored with a penalty.
Nigeria will face Argentina, Iceland and Croatia in Group D in the World Cup. The Democratic Republic of Congo failed to qualify for the tournament.
