MOSCOW, July 18 (Sputnik) - Over 70 percent of Russians watched TV broadcasts of the FIFA World Cup, which came to an end on Sunday, a poll conducted by the Russian Public Opinion Research Center revealed on Wednesday.
“Almost three quarters of the Russians (72 percent) followed the World Cup broadcasts,” the pollster said, adding that 54 percent of the country’s population watched the final as France beat Croatia 4-2 at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium.
The country-wide phone poll was conducted on Monday among 1,600 respondents aged 18 and older, with the margin of error not exceeding 2.5 percent.
