Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas has been invited by Russian president Vladimir Putin to visit Russia and attend the World Cup final, Palestinian Football Association President Jibril Rajoub said Monday.
"Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will accept the invitation of his Russian counterpart [Vladimir Putin]. The two presidents will meet on the sidelines of the visit to discuss bilateral relations between the countries and the latest political developments," Rajoub said in a statement.
The World Cup final will be played at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium on 15 July.
