DEDOVSK, July 4 (Sputnik) - Belgium defender Vincent Kompany said on Wednesday that their upcoming World Cup quarter-final match against Brazil would be "the most important" game for his generation.
Belgium will take on five-time champions Brazil at the Kazan Arena on Friday.
"The game against Brazil is the most important one for this generation. We don't have to be afraid of Brazil. We want to compete with the best teams in the world. Only if we fight for each other on Friday, we will be able to beat Brazil," Kompany said, as quoted by the team's official Twitter account.
He added that he would hug his Manchester City teammates before the match kicks off, but "as soon as the game has started that feeling will be over."
Kompany was referring to Brazil goalkeeper Ederson, defender Danilo, midfielder Fernandinho and forward Gabriel Jesus, all of whom also play for English Premier League champions Manchester City.
