Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo said Wednesday that Portugal were within touching distance of the knockout stages after they beat Morocco on Wednesday. However, he said they must make sure they finish top of their group.
Portugal overcame Morocco 1-0 in Moscow, thanks to Ronaldo’s fourth minute header. They drew their first group match against Spain and now have four points.
"It's important to continue to work hard, we are within touching distance of the knockout stages. We need to stay focused ahead of our next games. We need to ensure that we finish top of the group, and only then should start thinking about the next round," Ronaldo said.
Portugal will play their final group-stage match against Iran at the Mordovia Arena in Saransk on 25 June.
