MOSCOW, July 15 (Sputnik) - Spartak Moscow midfielder Ivelin Popov told Sputnik on Sunday that Russia had hosted the best World Cup ever.
"The World Cup gave a lot of interesting [things] to fans, players and experts. The tournament's organization was at the high level. I have seen many World Cups and the World Cup in Russia is the best for me," Popov said.
The 30-year-old added that Croatia captain Luka Modric deserved to win the Golden Ball award, a prize presented to the best player at a World Cup.
Russia's first-ever FIFA World Cup kicked off on June 14 and came to a close on Sunday with France defeating Croatia 4-2 and claiming their second title.
