Russian Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets said on Saturday that Russia were proud of their national team following their World Cup quarter-final encounter with Croatia.
Hosts Russia were eliminated from the tournament, as Croatia beat them on penalties in Sochi on Saturday to advance to the World Cup semi-finals. The match finished 2-2 after extra time.
"It was a decent game, we're proud of our team, they put in an excellent performance, this is the best result of the Russian national team," Golodets told journalists.
Croatia will next face England at Moscow’s Luzhinki Stadium on Wednesday in the semi-finals.
