Werner Zimmermann from Switzerland is planning to travel to Russia by tractor to support his national team at this summer's FIFA World Cup, Swiss media reported on Monday.
According to the Swiss newspaper Neue Luzerner Zeitung, Zimmermann, who will be accompanied by two friends, is planning to travel from Vitznau, a municipality in Switzerland, to the Russian city of Kaliningrad, where his national team will play against Serbia on June 22.
The trio are set to start their journey on June 8 and expect to cover 1,800 km (1,118 miles) in two weeks, with Zimmerman adding that they were going to return home in a friend's caravan, which will follow them along the way.
Kaliningrad, which will host a total of four World Cup matches, is the capital of Russia's western exclave of the Kaliningrad Region, located between Poland and Lithuania.
The FIFA World Cup will be held between June 14 and July 15 at 12 stadiums across 11 Russian cities. Switzerland will play five-time Wold Cup winners Brazil, Costa Rica and Serbia in Group E.
