Alessandro Rosina became the first player to score in the new campaign when he gave Torino the lead after 33 minutes but Goran Pandev equalised for the Romans early in the second half.

Tommaso Rocchi put Lazio ahead on the hour mark, but there was a quick reply from Torino's Tommaso Vailatti to ensure the spoils were shared even though the visitors had Gianluca Comotto sent off late on.

Torino started the game brightly and after six minutes Vincenzo Grella's long-distance strike forced an early save from experienced Lazio goalkeeper Marco Ballotta.

At the other end, Cristian Ledesma set up Rocchi whose shot looked like it would find the corner but Matteo Sereni made a fine save.

Lazio stepped up the pace and next it was the turn of Gaby Mudingayi to go close with a powerful shot that just missed the mark.

Sereni was in action again after 12 minutes when he was forced to field a shot from Simone Del Nero, who four minutes later forged an opening for Pandev who missed the target from close range.

Toro threatened next when midfielder Simone Barone tried his luck from distance, but the member of Italy's 2006 World Cup winning squad watched it whistle past the left post.

The visitors were getting into their stride and Rosina missed before Nicola Ventola headed a Eugenio Corini free-kick over the bar from close range.

At the other end Pandev created a chance for Rocchi whose shot was ably dealt with by Sereni.

Rosina then became the man to open the scoring account in Serie A this season with a clever lob from the edge of the area which found the right side of the net.

Lazio tried to hit back and Ledesma forced Sereni to make another save before the goalkeeper again got the better of his opponent when the Argentinian got off a shot from long distance.

On the stroke of the interval, the Torino goalkeeper distinguished himself once more to deny Massimo Mutarelli, who had exchanged passes with Rocchi.

Toro led at the break but it did not take long after the resumption for Lazio to get back on terms.

Rocchi was the creator with a pass to Pandev and the FYR Macedonia international completed the job amid furious protests for offside to referee Domenico Celi by some Torino players.

Mutarelli was the provider when Lazio took the lead seven minutes later. He fed the ball to Rocchi who turned and scored low into the right corner.

But Torino were soon back on level terms as Barone played in a cross from the right and substitute Vailatti headed home.

Lazio went looking for a winner and Mourad Meghni headed a Ledesma corner goalwards only for Sereni to play the role of spoiler again.

Comotto got his marching orders for kicking the ball away to earn his second caution of the night.

Lazio now had an extra man but could not find the net and the closest they came to bagging the victory came when Pandev tried his luck only for Sereni to save.
