The match of the week features First Division McInerney Ford Night Series champions Ashfield Soccer Club, who take on Premier Division Night Series champions Perth Soccer Club at Ashfield Soccer and Sports Club.

Ashfield’s Michael Filippou, will have his work cut out attempting to break down the Perth defence featuring Michael Ord and Gianfranco Circati.

However, the strong defence of the eastern suburbs side, which conceded only three goals in five night series matches, will also be tested by Perth’s talented strikers including recent Perth Glory signing Nikita Rukavytsya and fellow youngster Andreas Oliveira.

In another key game for round one, Western Knights will take on last year's Cup runners-up Swan IC in a match-up between two sides that finished in the top half of the 2006 Premier League table.

The Knights will be hoping their consistent form over the second half of last season will carry over into their 2007 Cup campaign. The club will rely on David Annall to lead their defence against Swan’s potent strike force.

Major recruit Aaron Cole will lead a Swan defence that struggled at times last season. The former Perth Soccer Club player’s strong aerial game will make life difficult for the Knights' forwards, while hard working striker David Foster will be a constant threat for their defenders.

Other fixtures see Night Series runners-up ECU Joondalup take on First Division outfit Canning City, 2006 Premiers Sorrento play Rockingham City, Scott Miller’s Cockburn travel to Gosnells City, Balcatta take on Armadale, Wanneroo City meet Floreat Athena in another all Premier League encounter and Bayswater City play Forrestfield United at Frank Drago Reserve.
