Mooy was fairly quiet for the encounter, with the Terriers defending deep and trying to exploit Liverpool’s well-publicised defensive weaknesses on the counter.

But Liverpool overpowered Huddersfield in the second half, Daniel Sturridge converting from a defensive error, before goals to Roberto Firmino and Georgino Wijnaldum made it comfortable.

Perhaps fortuitously for Jurgen Klopp, much-maligned defender Dejan Lovren was unexpectedly taken out of the firing line, picking up an injury in the warmup that saw Ragnar Klavan come in and perform superbly in his role.

Huddersfield have now failed to score in four consecutive away games, but the loss still leaves Mooy’s side in a respectable 11th position, one spot above fellow overachievers, Mat Ryan’s Brighton & Hove Albion.
