Two-time defending champions Al Faisaly recovered from the shock of conceding two early goals to trounce Tampines Rovers of Singapore 5-2 in the second leg of the AFC Cup quarter-finals at Prince Mohammed International Stadium on Tuesday
Trailing 2-1 from the first leg in Singapore, Tampines stunned their Jordanian hosts with goals by Sutee Suksomkit and Peres De Oliveira in the first 14 minutes to give the Singapore Cup holders a 3-2 aggregate advantage.
But Al Faisaly hit back with goals by Haitham Al Shaboul, Moayad Abukeshek and Siraj Al Tall in the final 10 minutes of the half.
Al Tall then netted his second of the night after the break and Qusai Abu Alieh converted a penalty to give Al Faisaly a 7-3 aggregate lead before Tampines were reduced to 10-men when Noh Alam Shah was sent-off just before the end.
Al Faisaly's big win set-up a semi-final meeting with Jordan league rivals Al Wihdat, who defeated Sun Hei 3-1.
Tampines surprised the home side by taking the lead after only 30 seconds when Nazri Nasir's cross found its way past Al Faisaly goalkeeper Lo'ai Al Amaireh, leaving Thailand international Sutee to score easily from close range.
The visitors duly added a second after 14 minutes when Brazilian playmaker De Oliveira got past Iraq international defender Haider Hussain and advanced into the Al Faisaly area before beating Al Amaireh with a powerful shot into the far corner of the net.
Stunned into action by the early setback, Al Faisaly gradually came into the game and created their first real chance in the 20th minute when Hassouneh Al Sheikh's shot went straight at goalkeeper Rezal Hassan.
The home side would level the aggregate score 10 minutes before the break when Rezal dropped a cross from Mohammad Khamees and Al Shboul was on hand to tuck home the loose ball.
Six minutes later, Al Faisaly levelled the score on the night as Abukeshek received a ball near the right by-line before striking a powerful shot which sailed past Rezal into the left corner of the net.
They ended the first half with a 3-2 advantage and a 5-3 aggregate lead when Al Tall, who netted the winner in the first leg, got on the end of a cross from Haider Hussain to score from close range.
The hosts continued to apply the pressure after the restart and added another goal six minutes after the hour mark when Al Tall scored his second of the game, beating Rezal with a powerful shot to the left of the Tampines goalkeeper.
Al Tall was then brought down in Tampines box by Alam Shah and Abu Alieh converted the spot kick with 20 minutes remaining to make it 5-2 on the night.
Tampines ended a miserable night with only 10 players as Alam Shah received his marching orders five minutes from time following a foul on Al Sheikh.
