Jordan League champions Al Wihdat scored three second-half goals as they beat Hong Kong's Sun Hei 3-1 at King Abdullah Stadium on Tuesday to set-up an AFC Cup semi-final meeting with with arch-rivals Al Faisaly.
Substitute Amer Deeb netted a brace after Mahmoud Shelbaieh had opened the scoring in the quarter-final second leg to give Al Wihdat the opportunity to avenge their defeat in last year's semi-finals to two-time defending champions Al Faisaly, who beat Tampines Rovers of Singapore 7-3 on aggregate.
Giovane Da Silva scored for Sun Hei four minutes from the end but it was a mere consolation for the Hong Kong outfit as they went out 4-1 on aggregate.
The hosts didn't take too long to show their attacking intentions, creating their first chance after six minutes when midfielder Ahmed Al Zugheir advanced into the area and sent a shot across the face of the Sun Hei goal.
After 28 minutes, Al Wihdat had another opportunity when Rafat Ali fired in a shot that beat Sun Hei goalkeeper Chan Ka Ki but just cleared the crossbar.
The pressure mounted and the home side nearly broke the deadlock 10 minutes before the break as Shelbaieh had a shot deflected wide before Al Zugheir's attempt from the resulting corner came back off the crossbar.
The first half finished goalless but the pressure finally paid dividends for Al Wihdat a minute before the hour mark when Basem Fathi's corner was played by Abdullah Deeb to Jordan international striker Shelbaieh, who fired home from close range.
Shelbaieh should have made it 2-0 three minutes later, receiving a pass just inside the Sun Hei area and going past two defenders before putting the ball past Chan only to see his effort come back off the right post.
However, Al Wihdat substitute Amer Deeb would find a second goal with 18 minutes remaining, neatly tucking the ball away after receiving a cross from Feisal Ibrahim.
Amer Deeb then scored his second goal on the night six minutes later, taking the ball past three defenders on the left side of the box before slotting home from a tight angle.
There were still time for a Sun Hei consolation as Brazilian striker Da Silva pulled a goal back three minutes from time, beating the Al Wihdat offside trap before firing a shot past goalkeeper Amer Shafi into the roof of the net.
