Ulugbek Bakaev and Timur Kapadze were on target for the hosts in the second half to condemn Sepahan - who lost to Al Ittihad Aleppo last Wednesday - to a second successive defeat.

The result marks a return to winning ways for Kuruvchi following last week's loss to Saudi Arabian outfit Al Ittihad but leaves Iranian side Sepahan without a point from their first two matches.

Kuruvchi came close to breaking the deadlock two minutes into the second half when Hossein Kazemi headed against his own crossbar from Server Djeparov's free-kick.

Three minutes later, Rashidjob Gofurov appeared to have been brought down by Jalal Akbari but the penalty claims were waved away, while a minute later at the other end Seyed Mohammad Salei passed up a fine opportunity for the visitors.

The woodwork came to Sepahan's rescue again shortly afterwards when Abbas Mohammadi pushed Djeparov's free-kick onto the bar.

Bakaev finally opened the scoring for the Uzbek team just after the hour mark when he headed Djeparov's cross past Mohammadi.

Kuruvchi doubled their advantage 10 minutes from time when Kapadze latched onto Djeparov's throw-in, beat two defenders and fired home.
