The United Arab Emirates striker converted Andre Luciano Pinga's cross to deny al Sadd all three points after Brazilian striker Marcio Emerson gave the Qatar League champions the lead in the 70th minute.

Earlier, Pinga had put Al Wahda ahead after 17 minutes, but Ecuadorian striker Carlos Tenorio levelled a minute before the interval.

Al Sadd started the brighter at Al Nahyan Stadium and Brazilian Felipe Jorge fed compatriot Emerson, but Al Wahda goalkeeper Nadir Lamyaghri dealt with his powerful strike.

But Lamyaghri's Al Sadd counterpart made a howler, misjudging Eisa Ahmed's cross to allow Pinga to put the hosts ahead with their first meaningful attack.

Bashir Saeed went close to doubling the lead, but sent his 30-yard free-kick just wide.

But it was Al Sadd who dominated, and Tenorio made their possession count a minute before the break - although he needed two attempts to stab home Ibrahim Majed's cross.

Al Sadd took a deserved lead after 70 minutes when Felipe Jorge found Emerson, who controlled well and beat Lamyaghri.

Tenorio's lob would have made it 3-1 but the Al Wahda defence managed to scramble it away, and the miss was to prove costly as Al Wahda levelled in the 85th minute.

Pinga centred from the right and Al Shehhi, on his own in the Al Sadd penalty area, fired past Mohamed Saqr to earn a welcome point.
