Chunnam went ahead after five minutes of the Group G clash and, although goalscorer Jeong Junyeon saw red shortly after, they made it two through Kim Mung Woon after the break.

But Pipob's header after 56 minutes put the hosts back in contention and he salvaged a draw when he popped up two minutes from time with a long-range effort which beat Yeom Donggyun.

A point does little for either side, though, with both needing to win their final two games to have any chance of surpassing pool leaders Gamba Osaka.

Chonburi had a goal ruled out for handball early on, Stephane Baga the unlucky man.

But they fell behind when Jeong's neat strike found the back of the net.

Yeom denied Baga after 11 minutes, and 14 minutes later his side was down to 10 when Jeong received a second yellow.

That almost proved costly when Ney Fabiano Oliveira's header struck the bar.

But the 10 men of Chunnam doubled their lead two minutes after the break, Kim firing home from the edge of the box.

Pipob nodded home Arthit Suntornphit's cross after 56 minutes and Chonburi continued to poor forward.

And their persistence paid off when Pipob let rip from distance to level.
