GAMBA Osaka booked their place in the knockout phase of the Asian Champions League on Wednesday with a 2-0 victory over Chonburi FC at Supachalasai Stadium.
Osaka needed just a point to progress, but goals from Masato Yamazaki and Lucas made doubly certain Akira Nishino's side made it into the last eight.
The victory moves Osaka onto 13 points after five games in Group G.
Osaka thought they had broken the deadlock as early as the eighth minute when Satoshi Yamaguchi fired home but the referee chalked it off for a foul in the build up.
Pipob On-mo and Ney Fabiano had attempts on goal for the hosts in the opening period but the best chance of the half went the way of Osaka in injury time when Bare rattled the bar with a shot on the turn.
Bare went close again after 62 minutes but two minutes later the Thai goal was finally breached.
Yasuda ran down the right before clipping in a cross for Yamazaki to nod beyond the Chonburi goalkeeper at his near post.
Twelve minutes later the game was put to bed when Lucas popped up in the penalty area to fire home Akira Kaji's cross on the volley.
