Al Ahli of Saudi Arabia and Al Wahda from the United Arab Emirates limited their chances of progressing from Group C in the Asian Champions League after playing out a goalless draw on Wednesday night.
The draw leaves the two sides level on two points apiece, five off the pace of group leaders Al Karama of Syria.
To make matters worse for Al Ahli they finished the game a man down after Leandro Silva was sent off four minutes from time.
Before that though the hosts had enjoyed the brightest of a disappointing first half. They had the first chance of the game after four minutes when Mohammed Al Mowallad fired over.
Then 10 minutes later Motaz Al Mosa broke the offside trap to force a save from Al Wahda goalkeeper Nadir Lamyaghri.
The away side had to wait until the 29th minute for their first chance of the night when Brazilian striker Josiel Da Rocha headed wide.
Al Ahli maintained the pressure in the second half as Hussain Sulaimani tested Lamyaghri shortly after the restart.
But the best chance to score fell to Al Wahda skipper Haidar Alo Ali whose 72nd-minute shot was cleared off the line by Hussain Sulaimani.
The game swung massively in the favour of the visitors four minutes from time when Al Ahli's Brazilian defender Leandro Silva received his second yellow card of the game before Ismail Matar nearly stole a winner but was denied by Al Ahli keeper Yasser Al Mosailem.
