Gamba Osaka will face city rivals Cerezo in the last 16 of the Asian Champions league for the fourth consecutive year after goals from Yasuhito Endo and Takashi Usami saw them beat Tianjin Teda 2-0 and win Group E.
Endo put the 2008 champions in front after 74 minutes at Expo '70 Stadium with a trademark free-kick before 19-year-old striker Usami netted a late penalty.
The result meant Jeju United's clash with Melbourne Victory at Jeju World Cup Stadium, which ended 1-1, was rendered academic with both sides now unable to progress.
Jeju took the lead in the 25th minute when Park Hyun-beom chipped a first-time pass into the area for Kim Eun-jung to chest down, swivel and fire a low half-valley past keeper Tando Velaphi.
Melbourne equalised just after the hour. Kim Eung-jun's headed clearance only went as far as Diego Ferreira loitering outside the box and the defender's volley bounced once before ending up in the back of the net.
Al Sadd sealed top spot in Group B of the 2011 AFC Champions League and a home tie against Al Shabab as Madji Siddiq's injury-time goal snatched a 1-1 draw with Pakhtakor at Pakhtakor Stadium.
The home side took the lead in the 58th minute through Stanislav Andreev's penalty and looked to be on course for all three points until Siddiq's injury-time free-kick caught out substitute keeper Eldor Tadjibaev.
Meanwhile, Esteghlal beat Al Nassr 2-1 at the Azadi Stadium, but it was not enough to qualify as they lost out to their Saudi opponents on goal difference.
Badar Al Motawa opened the scoring on the hour mark before Farhad Majidi in the 62nd and Hawar Mola in the 89th minutes turned the match around for Esteghlal.
Nagoya Grampus missed out on topping Group F after they lost 3-1 at Al Ain.
The hosts led 2-0 at the break through goals from Hamad Al Merri and Elias Ribiero, and, though Jungo Fujimoto pulled one back four minutes into the second period, Ribeiro replied immediately from the penalty spot
It meant FC Seoul's 1-1 draw at Hangzhou Greentown did not cost the Koreans.
A stoppage-time header from Hangzhou youngster Zeng Yue cancelled out Bang Seung-hwan's volley midway through the second-half.
Finally, Sepahan came from a goal down to see off Al Jazira 4-1 and clinch Group A.
Brazilian Bare opened the scoring for the hosts after 14 minutes but Javad Kazemian got Sepahan level just after the half-hour mark before the visitors pulled away after the break as Ibrahima Toure scored twice and Gholam Reza Enayati completed the win.
Al Hilal will join them in the last 16 with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Al Gharafa at King Fahd International Stadium.
Needing just a point to go through, Yasser Al Qahtani's header two minutes after the break set them on their way and Ahmed Al Fraidi sealed the win with a composed finish seven minutes from the end.
