Adelaide is set to play a significant role in the Olyroos' vital upcoming Olympic qualifiers with three players selected in the squad to face Lebanon on October 17.

Attacking midfielders Burns, Djite and Kristian Sarkies have been included in a 20 man squad to face Lebanon in Beirut for the team’s fourth group match of the final stage of Olympic qualifying.

The trio will be available for Adelaide United’s match with Perth Glory on Sunday before heading off on a week-long camp in the United Arab Emirates, meaning they will miss the Reds’ next home game against Melbourne Victory on Friday, October 12.

Burns and Djite have been in outstanding form in the Hyundai A-League, and it augers well for the trip to Beirut, while Sarkies has started to find his feet in United’s line up and seems to always step it up whenever he pulls on the Australian shirt.

Djite is currently the Hyundai A-League’s leading goal scorer with four goals and the 20 year olds hard work is starting to pay off.

Burns continues to be a standout and was exceptional in the first half against the Mariners last week while Sarkies is the top scorer in Asian Olympic qualifying with seven goals so far.

Olyroo Coach Graham Arnold would be delighted to see the form all three are showing for The Reds and the talent he has been able to bring together for the qualifiers.

"The depth of young talent in the Hyundai A-League has been proven again when you consider the quality and quantity of local players that are featured in the squad," Arnold said.

"This away match will be quite a challenge and Lebanon will undoubtedly prove to be a far more difficult proposition at home than they were last month in Gosford when they were also missing three players through suspension.”

While all of the Qantas Under 23’s remaining games are important, the one that is looming as the most crucial is against Iraq in Gosford on November 17 as both teams currently sit on seven points, Iraq only top of the group on goal difference.

The result of this match could be the game that determines whether Australia is represented in football at next year’s Beijing Olympics, but the immediate focus will be getting a win against Lebanon on October 17 and hopefully United’s trio can make a significant impact.

The 20-man squad for the match against Lebanon on October 17 is:
Nigel Boogaard (Central Coast Mariners), Leigh Broxham (Melbourne Victory), Mark Bridge (Newcastle Jets), Nathan Burns (Adelaide United), Adam Casey (Sydney FC), Billy Celeski (Perth Glory), Bruce Djite (Adelaide United), Adrian Leijer (Fulham, England), Trent McClenahan (Hereford United, England), David Micevski (Perth Glory), Mark Milligan (Sydney FC), Stuart Musialik (Newcastle Jets), Kristian Sarkies (Adelaide United), Nikolai Topor-Stanley (Perth Glory), James Troisi (Newcastle United), Tando Velaphi (Perth Glory), Danny Vukovic (Central Coast Mariners), Nick Ward (QPR, England), David Williams (Brondby, Denmark), Ruben Zadkovich (Sydney FC)
