The great football on display was overshadowed by biffs and bumps which saw both sides lose a player to red cards.

ADELAIDE UNITED

Paul Izzo - 6

Izzo was beaten for all money but the post kept the match scoreless as Adam Taggart threatened. Izzo made another point blank save against Taggart when Ben Halloran headed back towards his goal and Taggart volleyed first time.

Michael Marrone - 5

Lazy defending allowed Brisbane to counter-attack but luckily the base of the post saved Marrone's blushes as Taggart nearly made it six goals in six games.

Jordan Elsey - 6

Elsey wasn't troubled too much by Adam Taggart except when Marrone's howler sent Taggart through one-on-one. Comfortable work in defence from the centre back.

Taylor Regan - 4

The defender had no chance as Adam Taggart scooped past him to run through on goal. Regan's looping header in the first half caught Izzo unaware as it hit the crossbar, the third time the ball hit the bar in the match.

Regan was given a second yellow card and sent off after tussling with Stefan Mauk and attempting to claw at the Brisbane player's face.

Scott Galloway - 6.5

A quiet night for Galloway who was confident on the ball, although as Isaias was covering his spot when he went forward, Brisbane brought one back through his channel.

Vince Lia - 7.5

Great tenacity kept Adelaide's engine running as Lia and Isaias won the battle against Lopez and McKay. A great cross found Taylor Regan who's header hit the crossbar.

Isaias Sanchez - 8.5

Isaias did the job tonight and was crucial to Adelaide's counter-attack. The Spanish captain opened up an avenue for Goodwin who assisted Halloran for the opener.

Craig Goodwin - 8

Terrific vision to switch the play, and in turn, create Adelaide's first half chance for Ryan Kitto and a goal moments later in the match: Goodwin looked up, picked his spot and drove his low cross to Halloran who side footed home.

Ben Halloran - 9

His first chance came from a brilliant run in behind but his effort didn't have enough behind it to get past Izzo.

A first goal for Adelaide came shortly after as he connected beautifully with Goodwin's low drive to make it 1-0. Halloran made it two as he capitalised on Izzo's parry from Kitto's cross.

Ryan Kitto - 7.5

On the tight angle, Kitto made Izzo work in United's first chance of the match. A terrific slide-rule pass freed Ben Halloran to shoot on goal. An assist came for Kitto as he crossed with his right foot and Halloran met Izzo's rebound.

Ken Ilso - 5

The Dane made a clever run ahead of O'Toole to get on the end of Goodwin's cross but his glancing header hit the post. Should have made it 3-1 when a clear cut chance came his way in the box but his shot was tame.

Substitutes

Nikola Mileusnic - 6.5

Mileusnic was substituted on for his 54th match for Adelaide United as he replaced Ryan Kitto.

Ryan Strain - N/A

Brought on to batten down the hatches after Regan was sent off with a second yellow card.

Apostolos Stametolopoulos - N/A

Brought on in stoppage time

BRISBANE ROAR

Jamie Young - 7

Although Ilso was offside Jamie Young did well to close down the space and save Ilso's low finish. Young pulled off some terrific saves to keep Brisbane from falling further behind.

Connor O'Toole - 5

Craig Goodwin's cross field balls were taking O'Toole to town in the early stages of the first half but he eventually adjusted. Caught in possession leading to a chance for Ryan Kitto as the young full-back was lucky not to be punished for his mistake.

Daniel Bowles - 5

Received a yellow card in the first minute and gave away possession clumsily which left Brisbane open at the back.

Avraam Papadopoulos - 5

Papadopoulos looked uncomfortable tracking back behind Daniel Bowles who was losing the ball in deadly positions.

Jack Hingert - 6.5

Hingert was able to keep goal side to avoid getting into a foot race with Craig Goodwin. A brilliant solo run nearly opened up a golden chance for Brisbane seconds into the second half.

Thomas Kristensen - 5.5

Kristensen's long range passing was on point however he and Matt McKay couldn't handle the speed at which Adelaide were playing.

Matt Mckay - 5.5

McKay went toe to toe with Vince Lia in midfield, who was on top of the former Socceroo. McKay couldn't make an impact on the match with Brisbane under so much pressure.

Alex Lopez - 7

Perfectly timed tackles kept Brisbane moving forward whenever they got the chance.

Tobias Mikkelsen - 6

Mikkelsen, on a Brisbane counter-attack, cut in on Marrone and finessed to the back post, it just whizzed past a waiting Izzo. The Danish winger didn't have the desired impact in the first half but created some more chances in the second.

Eric Bautheac - 6

When the going got tough Bautheac was back deep in his own half winning the ball to spark something for Brisbane. Bautheac was targeted and was subject to plenty of tough tackles which eventually saw him go off injured.

Adam Taggart - 6

Taggart missed a one-on-one opportunity hitting the base of the post as Brisbane capitalised on a defensive error. His night was cut short with a groin injury in the 35th minute.

Substitutes

Henrique - 7

Henrique was a 35th minute substitute as Adam Taggart was replaced with a groin injury. The substitute got one back for the Roar coming in at the back post and onto the end of fellow sub Wenzel-Halls' cross.

Dylan Wenzel-Halls - 7

Substituted on for Bautheac in the 56th minute for his second A-League match. The youngster hit a great first time cross to Henrique who brought one back.

Stefan Mauk - 5

Mauk returned from injury and was brought on with 25 minutes to go. He made a big impression, coming off the bench and sparking Brisbane into life. Mauk was sent off, after appearing to be knocked unconscious, following a late challenge on Goodwin.
