Despite the lack of green, white or red, 'El Tri' have worked wonders with this effort!
Mexico have dropped their traditional green colourway from this year’s international home kits, with adidas unveiling a slick, Aztec-inspired black home jersey on their official Twitter account.
Despite being historically nicknamed ‘El Tri’, which is a reference to Mexico’s tri-colour flag, the new adidas home strip for international fixtures in 2019 mostly sees a distinct absence of red, white and green.

Instead, the German sportswear brand has payed tribute to the 1986 adidas ‘Azteca’ World Cup ball, producing a gorgeous black jersey worthy of the 2-time World Cup quarter-finalists and 7-time CONCACAF Gold Cup winners.
At its most basic, the new home strip is essentially a black-on-black hoops design. However, within each of the thick ‘hoops’ is a beautiful, Aztec-style graphic which looks great whether up close or when seen from a distance.
The traditional red, white and green colourway is given only the most incredibly subtle of tributes, appearing at the very bottom of the sleeve cuffs as a minor detail.
Mexico will debut their stylish new home strip in a friendly match against Chile this upcoming weekend.
